Mutts (10/2/08)

Both Chicago baseball teams are in the playoffs for the first since an ancient World Series clash and, needless to say, they are not doing well. The Cubs compiled the best record in the National League only to lose game one of their opening round, best-of-five series to the Dodgers 7-2. They are currently losing 5-0 in the third inning of game two and are in danger of sinking into an insurmountable hole. The White Sox, on the other hand, lost 6-4 to the Rays this afternoon after barely sneaking into the playoffs with three consecutive wins to end the season. Will either team advance to the next round? Will either team win a game? At this point, I’m just hoping they both manage to avoid having games called on account of the slaughter rule.
