9 Chickweed Lane (11/7/08)

This is an elegant and subtle rendition of lovemaking, although it also seems to be too absract for its own good. It’s an intersting strip to look at, given that the hands resemble a collection of shadow puppets without the shadows, but it’s also too high-concept to be genuinely expressive. As a minor point, I’m not sure what the reasoning was for dividing this strip in two when it would have been much more seamless as a single panel.

In looking at this cartoon through your eyes I got it. As “smart” as I am normally, I am blushing furiously to admit that I missed IT entirely. !@#$%!!!! Boy am I glad I stumbled on you! (Well, kinda glad. Kinda more like the next cartoon down with that No Fun look when backed into a corner because one’s own resources have been resounding defeated by s-i-m-p-l-e reason [or the observational talent of a 12-year-old boy and I blew it ignominously!!!!]

It’s in 2 panels like that so that when published in some papers it can be on top of each other or side by side. The creator discusses this in Pibgorn … http://www.gocomics.com/pibgorn/2005/03/29
