Mister Boffo (12/9/08)

True story: I was at a funeral luncheon earlier today when the attention of nearly everyone in the room turned to a wall-sized photo of a beautiful, secluded waterfall. There was a debate about whether a small brown object at the top of the photo was a house or whether it was part of the cliff. We quickly determined that it was a house based on a series of clues such as a barely noticable chimney and a nearby telephone pole. Then someone noticed a set of stairs carved into the rock at the base of the waterfall and joked that it might be a bus stop. I chimed in, saying that it must be the end of the line and that there should be a sign reading, “the bus stops here.” A few hours later, I came home and read this strip in the newspaper.
