Zits (9/20/09)

09-20-09 (Zits)

I’m not a legal expert, but I’ve seen enough courtroom dramas to know that the term “counsel” refers to an attorney and not a judge. So I wonder why the second to last panel in this strip shows a woman in judicial robes who holds a gavel while claiming to be “counsel.” If I were accused of a crime, I would want to be represented by an advocate who could do his or her best impression of Gregory Peck, not by a member of the judiciary who hands out sentences and dictates the terms of punishment. The image also suggests that this woman is power-hungry, since she already cast herself as a disciplinarian, complete with a police uniform and billy club.
