Monty (6/11/10)

What strikes me about this strip is not the fact that a small fish has leapt from his bowl and inched his way across the table toward a plate of food, it’s the fact that a small fish has leapt from his bowl and inched his way across the table toward a plate of seafood. That look of horror on the fish’s face in panel three? It could be inspired by a lack of water, or it could have something to do with the realization that he’s licking the cooked remains of one of his brethren, and one of his larger, more intimidating brethren at that. In the ocean, a tuna might have swallowed this green guy in one gulp. But in the weird world of domestication, it’s an altogether different story.
