Bizarro (12/21/10)

My grandmother was the most free-spirited person I’ve ever known. She was generous with strangers, friendly with acquaintances, and loving to friends and family. It’s not easy to give freely of yourself, but that’s what she did and it made an impression on everyone who knew her. If anyone earned the right to use the phrase, “thinking outside the box” it was my grandmother. Coincidentally, she owned a T-shirt with that very slogan; a T-shirt that she wore regularly and that, no fooling, adorned her body as she lay in a casket at her wake. My grandmother was cremated in that shirt and her ashes were spread in her home country of Canada, far outside of any box.
